Cheers guys, IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!! So I get to put sprinkles in my latte and eat cupcakes for breakfast!

Today I want to share a recipe for a drink I’ve been obsessed with the last couple months. I’m going to teach you how to make the best bulletproof golden milk latte you will ever have. Not just at home, like anywhere. It’s rich and creamy with warm spices and a hint of sweetness. No more spending $6 a day at those trendy cafes, this homemade latte will give you all the bang without the buck. Happy Birthday.

If you’re like me, you probably start most days with a hot drink in hand—some sort of tea, latte, or coffee drink. I’d love to say I also start most days with a healthy balanced breakfast (not cupcakes), but with pets to feed and alarms to sleep through, sometimes a liquid breakfast (and cupcake) is all I have time for. Which is perfect since this drink is not only beautiful, creamy, and delicious—it’s also filling!

It is packed with healthy fats like cashew butter that contain protein and fiber to help you stay full longer. The ghee and coconut oil are what make this drink ultra rich and creamy and the turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties as well as antioxidants. This latte is completely caffeine free so you can even sip it before you sleep! The warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg are super comforting and cozy, especially curled up with a blanket before bed.

The key to getting this drink super frothy is by pulsing the hot mixture in a blender. You can still make it if you don’t have a blender by simply whisking the ingredients vigorously, but if you want that frothy coffee shop vibe, you’ll want to blend it. Speaking of vibes, I like to decorate the top to give it a little flare. If it’s your birthday you can decorate with sprinkles—obvi—otherwise dust additional cinnamon or turmeric over the top!

Enjoy.

 BULLETPROOF GOLDEN MILK LATTE

INGREDIENTSA frothy bulletproof golden milk latte with sprinkles next to a half eaten cupcake.

  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tbsp cashew butter (or any nut butter you like)

INSTRUCTIONS

In a small saucepan melt coconut oil and ghee over low heat. Add spices and stir until very fragrant. Add milk, vanilla, and honey (or any sweetener of choice) and whisk well. When milk is hot—NOT BOILING—transfer to blender. Add nut butter and blend until super frothy.

There will be spice remnants at the bottom of the blender. Don’t pour them into your mug when filling it or it will make the drink grainy.

    1. Ghee is basically just clarified butter! It’s ideal in cooking because it has a higher smoke point. But I like to add it to coffee and other hot drinks because it gives them a velvety smooth texture. Plus it has a ton of health benefits——you should definitely check it out! I think some brands even carry flavored ghee.

  1. I absolutely love this recipe. Granted, I leave out the ghee because I don’t have it on hand and sometimes I add a dash of pepper, but I follow the rest of the recipe and it’s so good and comforting. It feels like a treat.
